Iris Rosella Moseley Harvey broke the bonds of mortality and went to her well-deserved reward of eternal peace and happiness with God at 8:30am on March 11, 2014 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was 71 years old. Iris was born in Surry County, NC on December 28, 1942 to the late Leslie Robert and Vella Agnes Belton Moseley. She grew up in the Franklin community and graduated with the first senior class at North Surry in 1960. In May of 1960 she met her devoted and loving soul mate, James Reginald Harvey. They were forever joined in marriage August 12, 1961. Together they produced two children, Rebeccah Anne, who lives in Mount Airy with her husband, Pat Kevin Beverly, and David Lloyd, who lives and works in Raleigh, NC. Rebeccah and Kevin gave Iris and James three magnificent grandchildren, Levi, 22, Lucas, 19, and Leanna, 18. Levi is engaged to Shelby Beamer. It was one of Iris's fondest wishes that she would be able to help plan and attend their wedding. In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by several aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom were very dear to her. Her brother-in-law, Clayton Columbus Wells, passed away in December, 2012. Besides her husband, children, and grandchildren, Iris is survived by a sister, Etta Agnes Moseley Wells of Mount Airy, a brother and sister-in-law, Leslie Leon and Betty Mosley of Rural Hall, and a large number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Iris was a devout Christian who always tried to do what she thought would please God. She prayed many times daily for those in pain or in need, asking that they would find peace and love in a world that so often turns its back on those who are among the less fortunate. An avid genealogist, Iris published well over 50 books and twice received the North Carolina Genealogical Association award for excellence in publishing. She loved history and relished digging through old records in the state archives. She also did a lot work helping people find long-lost relatives, which she did without charge no matter where the search led or how long it took. Her client list was quite extensive, including a doctor in Alaska and a priest in the Vatican. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, March 13, from 6-8pm at Moody Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by the Reverend Bud Cameron in Moody's chapel at 1:00pm with burial to follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.
