Mrs. Iris Louise Jessup, 89 of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Golden Living. She was born in Stokes County on February 22, 1925 to the late Charlie Otis and Vellie Jane Hooker Martin. Mrs. Jessup retired from Kentucky Derby Hosiery and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Billy Carter of Pilot Mountain and Gail and Roger Burkhart of Mt. Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Audrey Jessup of Mt. Airy and Jimmy and Vickie Jessup of Pilot Mountain; eight grandchildren, Timothy Ring, Kelly Ring, Jerry Jessup, Jr., Paula Russell, Josh Burkhart, Amy Burkhart, Jamie Jessup and Jarriat Jessup; five great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kristin and Kameron Russell, Stephanie and Maria Jessup; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda and Bill Brindle of Pilot Mountain, Lavinia Fouts of Thomasville Shelby Cooke of Westfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dewey and Linda Martin of Westfield and Justin Wayne and Sharon Martin of King, NC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jessup was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jennifer Jessup and Larry Michael Jessup; five brothers, Calvin, Denville, Clarence, Lindburgh and Billy Martin. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith Baptist Church where her body will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Rev. Randy Edwards will be officiating the service. Burial will follow in The Peoples Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night 6 to 8 P.M. at the Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC.
