Irmgard Theresa "Tutu" Phillips Bowman

Mrs. Irmgard Theresa "Tutu" Phillips Bowman, Age 79 of Mt. Airy, NC. passed away Monday May 11, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Bowman was born February 8, 1936 in Waialua, Hawaii, to the late Manuel Carreria and Rose Kahaleaniani Weed Phillips, she retired from Belk Department Store and was a member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church. Surviving are four daughters and sons–in-law Margaret Rose and Dale Hawks of Ararat, VA, Robin Marie and Brad Shelton of Mt. Airy, BettyAnn and Timothy Hill of the home and Meri Etta and Jesse Haynes of Mt. Airy, a son and daughter-in-law Woodrow Daniel and Dina Bowman of Mocksville and an adopted son, Christopher Stephenson of the home, fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and one on the way, and a special friend, Nora Goins. In addition to her parents Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband Master Sergeant (Ret) Woodrow Bowman and by sisters, Shirley, Jeannie and Joyce; and brothers, Rodney and Manning. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Lawrence W. Heiney officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00.
