Mrs. Ivalene Hiatt Westmoreland Chaffins, age 90 of Cana, Virginia passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living. Mrs. Chaffins was born in Patrick County, Virginia on December 11, 1934, to the late Thomas Raleigh and Elizabeth Exona Inscore Hiatt. Ivalene was a loving wife, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her sisters and brother-in-law, Gloria Hiatt Payne, Faye Hiatt Randalls and Jerry; and a brother, Otto Reginald Hiatt; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chaffins was preceded in the death by her first husband, Robert Westmoreland; second husband, David Chaffins; sisters, Audrey Hiatt Wright, Barbara Hiatt Nester, Geraldine Hiatt Deal, Lavinia Dare Hiatt, Wanda Hiatt and brothers, Kenneth Quinten Hiatt, Bernard Fountain Hiatt, and Raleigh Reid Hiatt. No formal services will be held at this time at the request of Mrs. Chaffins. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and Twelve Oaks Assisted Living for all the loving and care shown to Mrs. Chaffin during her illness.
