Mr. J. Glenn Nichols, 88, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Born January 7, 1938, in Surry County, he was the son of the late Roger Nathan and Nell Gentry Nichols. J. Glenn was a lifelong farmer, dedicating his life to the land he loved and the work that defined his life. In addition to farming, he was employed with Pilot Freight Carriers for 20 years. He found great joy in quail and deer hunting and treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Jerry and Lucy Nichols, Mitch and Donna Nichols, and Judy and Tom Olechiw. He was a proud grandfather to Joshua Nichols (Cam), Nicole Nichols, Jessica Nichols, and Jerrod Nichols (Lin), and a loving great-grandfather to Elijah, Ezekiel, Airish, Kaleb, and Billie-Hanna. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda Muriel Simpson Nichols; and two brothers, Roger Lewis Nichols and Ben Gentry Nichols. A private service will be held by the family. J. Glenn will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, and his deep devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the generations he leaves behind. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
