Mr. Jack Anderson Critz Sr., age 98, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Airy. He was born on April 30, 1927 in Surry County to the late Tom and Elsie Welch Critz. Mr. Critz proudly served our county in the United States Navy. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Amy Mundy; son, Jack “Andy” Critz Jr; grandchildren, Casey Simmons (India), Taylor Mundy as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. Critz was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Sowers Critz, and a daughter, Debra Simmons. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens with service conducted by Pastor Dennis Barnette. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends on Monday morning from 9:45 AM until time to leave for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Mr. Critz to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Dr Suite 101, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
