James Edward Cave

James Edward Cave, 91, of Dobson, North Carolina, passed away at his home Saturday, May 24, 2025. Born June 21, 1933, in Surry County to the late Willie Guy and Dessie Jennings Cave. Mr. Cave worked as a tobacco farmer and raised Black Angus cattle. Left to cherish his memory is his daughters, Donna Cave Davis, and Barbara Cave Smith; sons, Gayle Edward Cave, and James Kenneth Cave; grandchildren, Randall James Cave, Amanda Gayle Evans, Michelle Davis Hill, Kayla Patricia Davis, and Lewis Mitchell Smith; 9 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Blanche Whitt. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Ivagene Lewis Cave; sisters, Frances Freeman, and Carrie Cave; and brothers, Otis Cave, Herman Cave, Travis Cave, Clinton Cave, and Britt Cave. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Travis Sechrist officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 818 Prison Camp Road, Dobson NC 27017. The family requests casual wear optional. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson, NC is serving the Cave family.
