James Moore Clement, Sr

Mr. James Moore Clement, Sr., 90, of 505 Fireside Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Monday night, May 7, 2012, at Golden Living Center. Mr. Clement was born March 22, 1922, in Surry County, the son of the late William Orville and Ora Anna Marshall Clement. He retired as a millwright from Goodyear Tire Company in Danville, VA, and attended Dover Baptist Church. Jim is survived by his wife, Opal Allene Robertson Draughn Clement of the home; a daughter, Deborah Clement Priddy of Mount Airy; a son, James Moore Clement, Jr. of Saint Petersburg, FL; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, several great-grandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Clement was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Belton McCraw Clement; his second wife, Mabel Rae Westmoreland Clement; a daughter, Elaine Clement O'Kelly; a stepdaughter and her husband, Joanne Draughn Atkins and Jay G. Atkins; three sisters, Jessie Novella Clement, Anna Belle Hicks, and Margaret Clement; and two brothers, Hiram Clement and Harry Clement. The funeral service will be held Friday, May 11, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. J. Cecil Hill officiating. Entombment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
