James Edward Martin

Mr. James “Edward” HARD HEAD Martin , 87, of Mt. Airy passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born in Surry County on March 16, 1936, to the late Troy and Dorothy Martin.  Mr. Martin was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.  He is survived by his wife, Joan Vernon Martin; son, John Martin; stepsons, Gary Cook, and Layne Cook; step grandchildren, Mallorie Cook, Autumn and Ryan Prado, Kendell and Hailey Cook, Mary Cook, and Nicholas Cook; three step great grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by Margaret Martin; sons, Jimmy Martin, and Jeffery Martin; a brother, Claude Martin.  A funeral service will be held Friday, September 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Harvest Time Church of God in King with the Rev. Robbie Sizemore officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Garden in High Point.  The family will receive friends Friday from 9:00 until 11:00 AM at the church.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Harvest Time Church of God, 312 Newsome Rd., King, NC 27021.  Moody Funeral Services in Mt.
