Mr. James Douglas “Doug” Griffin, age 77 of Patrick Springs, Virginia, passed away at SOVAH Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. He was born in Stokes County, North Carolina, on June 25, 1948, to the late Clarence Griffin, Sr. and Mary Bennett Griffin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Angela “Snookie” Rorrer; two sisters, Tina Griffin and Nancy Spencer; and a brother, Clarence Griffin, Jr. Doug faithfully and honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a retired truck driver with many years of service. He was a member of Mayo Christian Church, where he taught Sunday School and helped visit the sick and the shut-ins. He dearly loved his family and was always willing to help others and put others before himself.

Left to cherish the memories of Doug are his devoted wife of 45 years, Phyllis Goard Griffin of the home; son James “Jamie” Griffin (Vicky) of Fresno, California; grandson, Andrew “Griff” Griffin of Fresno, California; sister, Judy Stanley of Madison, North Carolina; brother, Tony Griffin of Greensboro, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

Following Doug’s request, the family will have a private service officiated by Pastor Curt Ashley. Military rites will be provided by the Patrick County  Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
