Mr. James Lewis Hardy, age 77, of Dobson, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.  Mr. Hardy was born August 12, 1946, in Surry County to the late Porter and Imogene White Hardy.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.  After 38 years of dedicated employment, Mr. Hardy retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem.  He enjoyed yard work, had a love for birds, especially hummingbirds which he fed daily, was fond of growing orchids and traveling, especially cruises and beach trips with family and friends.  He was dedicated member of Salem Baptist Church for many years where he served on the Building and Grounds Committee and Cemetery Committee as well as assisting with the Hostess and Bereavement Committees.  Mr. Hardy had a heart for helping others.  He married his best friend and love of his life, Dianne Hamlin Hardy on November 24, 1973, and enjoyed a loving marriage for 49 years with anticipation of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in November.  They were blessed with an adored daughter, Tiffany Diane Warner and husband, Aric; a granddaughter, Beatrice Diane Lane, the apple of her PaPa’s eye, of King; and two very special grandchildren, Alison Warner and Ian Warner of Fargo, North Dakota.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by his stepfather, Leo Wood; his only brother, Edward Gray Hardy, in February of this year; father-in-law, Crawley Hamlin and mother-in-law, Beatrice Hamlin.  Left to cherish his memories with his family are a sister-in-law, Polly Hardy, of Boonville; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Craig and Robin Hamlin of Dobson; two nieces, Robin Hinton and Lisa Hardy and husband, Danny Smith, of Boonville; three grand nieces, Haley Pardue, Taylor Hunt and husband, Titus, and Dorsey Smith.  The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Salem Baptist Church.  Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Mayes and Dr. Darrell Tate officiating.  The body will lie in state one half hour prior to the service.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 430 Rockford Road, Dobson, NC 27017.  Burial will follow in the Salem Baptist Church cemetery.  Moody-Davis Funeral Services in Dobson has been entrusted with the arrangements and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.  The service will be live streamed at salemdobson.com/eventstream.
