James "Jim" Walter Hawks

Mr. James “Jim” Walter Hawks, 80, of Cana, VA passed away Friday, April 08, 2016 at Golden Living Center - Blue Ridge in Galax, VA. He was born in Carroll County on September 14, 1935 to the late William Columbus and Mattie Davis Hawks. Mr. Hawks was retired from Mt. Airy Furniture Company. He is survived by sisters, Ruby Blakley of Clemmons, NC, and Lou Leonard of Cana; a brother, Gurnie Hawks of Lexington; a special friend, Janie McMillian of Fort Pierce, FL; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by three sisters, Flora Martin, Myrtle Head, and Julia White; a brother, John W. “Jay” Hawks. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Bledsoe officiating.
