Mr. James Robert Hodges, 69, of Mt. Airy passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. He was born in Surry County on January 29, 1946 to the late Jahue Tobe and Bertha Nichols Hodges. He was retired from Save-A-Lot Food Store and was a member of Friendly Tabernacle. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ruth Upchurch Hodges of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Crystal and Bryan Flippen of Mt. Airy, Heather and Jason White of Winston Salem; a son Chris Hodges of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Kari Flippen Casstevens, Beth Flippen Hooker, Ethan Sawyer Gentry, and Summer White; sisters and brother-in-law, Zula Goins of Mt. Airy, Diane and Ronald Wood of Lowgap; a brother and sisters-in-law, Jack and Faye Hodges of Mt. Airy, Nelda Faye Hodges of Salisbury ; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by a brother, Mac Hodges. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Friendly Tabernacle with the Rev. J.L. Young the Rev. Michael Combs and the Rev. Chris Oakley officiating. Burial will follow in Edwards-Upchurch Family Cemetery in Lambsburg, VA. The family will receive friends Wednesday Night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
