James "Jim" Rolph Younger

Mr. James “Jim” Rolph Younger, 86, of Mt. Airy entered the Kingdom of Heaven on May 25, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.  He was born in Surry County on April 16, 1937, to the late Harrison and Myrtle East Younger.  Mr. Younger started his career with Surry County Loan and Trust Company, became executive V.P. of Northwestern Bank, and retired from First Union Bank.  He was a member and an Elder of First Presbyterian Church, and also a member of a Masonic Lodge.  Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed.  He is survived by his wife Janice L Younger, daughter and son-in-law, Melanie Y Winfree and Kenneth D Winfree; five grandchildren; Ross Matthew Scott (Jessica), James Cole Younger, Natalie Mae Younger, Leah Renee Winfree, Anah Younger Winfree, seven great grandchildren Eli, Maddy, Layla, Mary Elizabeth, Tyler, Ofelia, and Van.  He also is survived by a host of family and friends with numerous nieces and nephews that were very special to him.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Younger was preceded in death by his son James Mitchell “Mitch” Younger, six brothers, and three sisters.  A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr . Paul Ridolfi and the Rev. Grey Williams officiating.  Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Garden.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
