James Everett Karns

Mr. James Everett Karns, 73, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, August 13, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Karns was born June 25, 1937, in Columbia, PA, to the late Harry and Geraldine Everitt Karns. He was a retired business owner and operator of Karns Truck Stop and Jim's Lounge. Mr. Karns is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randy James and Jamie Karns of Anchorage, AK, and Brad Karns of the home; seven grandchildren; and a brother, William Karns of Pennsylvania. In addition to his parents, Mr. Karns was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Jane Griffith Karns; his second wife, Billie Lee Smith Karns; a son, Craig Everett Karns; and several brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy by the Rev. Richard Loman. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
