James "Jim" Arthur Monroe
Mr. James “Jim” Arthur Monroe, 75, of Galax, VA passed away Monday, December 21, 2015 at his home. He was born in Surry County on February 24, 1940 to the late Arthur Gillis and Vida Cromer Monroe. Mr. Monroe was a retired Electrician and was a member of Flat Rock Presbyterian Church. He is survived by several nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver, Rachel Lundy; a special “grandson” Andrew Alderman; and special friends, Lisa Anderson and Charlie Davis. In addition to his parents, Mr. Monroe was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita B. Monroe. Graveside services will be held on Saturday December 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery with Mr. Wilburn Rives officiating. Family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Saturday December 26, 2015 from 1:00 PM until time of the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Flat Rock Presbyterian Church, PO Box 884, Mt. Airy, North Carolina 27030.
