James Franklin Simmons

Mr. James Franklin Simmons, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Simmons was born March 30, 1925, in Surry County, to Isaiah and Nora Venable Simmons. He was a retired carpenter. Surviving are a sister, Margie Hemmings of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by three sisters, Marlene Cruise, Leona Key, and Jane Gardner; a half-sister, Beulah S. Hill; and a brother, Harlan Simmons. A graveside service will be held Friday, December 19, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Hutchens-Venable Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 until the time of the service at Moody Funeral Home.
