Mr. James Thomas Reynolds, age 78 of Patrick Springs, Virginia, was ushered into Glory on April 22, 2026. He was born in Patrick County on April 19, 1948, to the late James Shelman Reynolds and Marie Clanton Reynolds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, James W. Reynolds, U.S. Marine Corps; two grandsons, Jonathan Green Reynolds and Semaj Johnson Reynolds; one sister, Judy Florence Hagwood; one brother-in-law, Douglas Hylton; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Reynolds. James was known in the community as an advocate for all. He was a servant of mankind, and his acts of generosity were reflected in his actions. He volunteered for the Patrick County Food Bank and the Red Cross, giving out food for over ten years. He also served as a driver for several church van ministries. He was best known for his ability to usher at his church, Mt. Nebo True Gospel Holiness Church, where he was a faithful and devoted member for many years. He was a person who wore many hats; for one, he was a romantic, for some a father, for some a papa, and for many he was a person with a wonderful sense of humor and a shoulder to cry on.
Left to cherish the memories of James are his beloved wife, Margaret “Jane” Johnson Reynolds; two sons, Cory D. Reynolds (Ladai) and Kelly D. Reynolds (Corri); one daughter, Twyla Reynolds; four grandchildren, Lucian Reynolds, Jayson Reynolds, Tré Vega, and Sydney Reynolds; five siblings, Julius Reynolds, Nannie Sue Clark, Doris Daye Hylton, Thelma Jean Clark (Wayne), and Brogie H. Reynolds (Cynthia); one brother-in-law, Joe Hagwood; special sister, Samchuk Reynolds; aunt, Virginia Mattox; and a great host of nieces and nephews.
The homegoing service for Mr. Reynolds will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at noon at Mt. Nebo True Gospel Holiness Church with Pastor Samuel Hagwood eulogizing and Deacons Kevin Reynolds and Kenneth Reynolds officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday morning. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Nebo True Gospel Holiness Church, 30598 Jeb Stuart Hwy, Spencer, VA 24165. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart has been entrusted with the services and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
