Janet Ledford Handy

Mrs. Janet Ledford Handy, age 78, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday morning, September 11, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Handy was born in Surry County, August 3, 1947, to the late Billy Jackson Ledford, Sr., and Mabel Virginia Robertson Ledford. She was a very faithful woman, loved serving the Lord, and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Handy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sibling who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 42 years, Leslie Handy; daughter and son-in-law, Kim Simmons and Chuck; brother, Billy Jackson Ledford, Jr.; brother-in-law, Billy Pell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Handy was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Taylor Elizabeth Simmons; sister, Phyllis Ann Pell. A celebration of Mrs. Handy’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with the Rev. Richard Loman and Rev. Jay Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Moody Funeral Home from 10:30 AM until time of the service.
