Janie Lee Nixon

Ms. Janie Lee Nixon, 70 of Mount Airy, passed away at her home on Monday February 16, 2026. She was born in Surry County on October 24, 1955, to the late Elmer Lee Nixon and Hazel Juanita Mayes Nixon. Ms. Nixon had worked at Wayne Farms for many years. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janice Brown Williams and Robin Westmoreland; grandchildren, Jade and Addi Hazelwood, Cameron Ottinger, Hailey Williams and Zachary Hutchens, Austin Whiteted , and Eathan Whiteted; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann Puckett and Haney, and Nancy Edwards and Coy; brother, Charles Nixon; and many other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Ms. Nixon was preceded in death by a daughter, Wilma Brown Sheperd; sisters, Roberta Spencer and Rachel Glass; brother, William Nixon; and a son-in-law, Bobby Dean Williams. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 20, 2026, at 2:00pm in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Nixon Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
