Obituary

Mrs. Jayne Ray Lowry King, age 97 of Mount Airy entered into God’s glory and the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. King was born on January 16, 1929, in Surry County to the late John Raymond and Byrdie Williams Lowry. Jayne was a wonderful friend to have, a caring mother to her children; a loving grandmother and great grandmother to her grandchildren, a lover of Jesus, and a devoted wife to Stanley, who preceded her in death. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. King was a faithful member of Mount Airy Wesleyan Church, where she attended while her health allowed. Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly King Stephens and Terrell; son and daughter-in-law, Stanley Meredith King, III and Joan; three grandchildren and spouses, Lindsey Stephens Brim and Brett, Sarah Stephens Plyler and Michael, William Terrell Stephens and Clarissa; seven grandchildren, Cassidy Brim, Jase Brim, Annalise Plyler, Michael Plyler, Jr., Caspian Stephens, Ronan Stephens, Evelyn Stephens; and special friend, Ligia Dovigo. In addition to her parents, Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Stanley Meredith King, Jr. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Mount Airy Wesleyan Church in Mount Airy with Reverend Jason Madison and Pastor Don Boyles officiating. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
