Mrs. Jean Bottomley Amburn, age 92 of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at her home. Mrs. Amburn was born on June 23, 1933, in Grayson County, Virginia to the late Estel Floyd and Linnie Edwards Bottomley. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Amburn Joyner and husband Kenneth; sons and daughter-in-law, Barry Amburn and wife Juno and Paul Amburn; a grandson, Daniel Amburn and wife Mary-Peyton; two great-grandchildren, Whitaker and Caroline Amburn; special friends, Margaret and Darrell Bondurant; her caregivers, Christine Mabe and Tammy Card; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Amburn was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William Rawley Amburn; a sister, Lena Bottomley Bedsaul; and three brothers, Keith Bottomley, Clyde Bottomley, and Bobby Bottomley. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Dr. David Sparks officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Ridge Chapel Church Cemetery in Galax, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Moody Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Maple Grove United Methodist Church, Senior Meals and Hardship Fund, 941 Maple Grove Church Road, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030 or to Yokefellow Ministries, 461 North South Street, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
