Jeanette "Ilene" West Hooker

Jeanette “Ilene” West Hooker, 85 of Meadows of Dan, VA passed away peacefully Friday, August 15, 2025 at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. She was born in Floyd, VA on February 16, 1940 to the late Zebrum Claude West and Lillie Effie Keith West. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lloyd Nelson “Tootsie” Hooker. Four sisters, June Pratt, Lydia Pratt, Iva Powell, and Ruby Burnett; three Brothers, Marvin West, Arvel West, and Russell West.

Ilene was a member of Vesta Pentecostal Holiness Church. She retired from Ariel Machine and Tool as a seamstress after many years. She enjoyed putting puzzles together and collecting knick-knacks. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling with the love of her life “Tootsie” to different churches where they would sing. In the later part of her life just a simple trip to Walmart or a trip up the mountain to Floyd for dinner brought her pleasure. She was a loving Aunt with a quiet, beautiful spirit.

She is survived by a special sister-in-law, Thelma Puckett (Martin) of Meadows of Dan; and a host of Nieces and Nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Chapel with Reverend James Houchins and Pastor Ronald Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in John Millard Hooker Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
