Jesse Monroe Johnson

Mr. Jesse Monroe Johnson, 84, of 6136 Westfield Road, Westfield, passed away Monday morning, September 14, 2015, at his home. Mr. Johnson was born April 25, 1931, in Surry County, one of three children born to the late Carl Monroe and Lula Holt Johnson. Jesse was a retired tobacco farmer and a member of the Christian faith. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas L. and Jo Frankie Johnson of Pilot Mountain; several nieces and nephews; and a special aunt, Lenice Johnson of Westfield. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by a sister, Mellie Johnson Owens. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Gerald Jones officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday at the cemetery immediately following the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 6713 Westfield Road, Westfield, NC 27053. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
