Mrs. Jessie Mable Snow Chilton of Brookridge Retirement Community in Winston Salem, formerly of Pilot Mountain, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013. She was born February 25, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Charlie Luther and Jennie Haymore Snow. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred E. Chilton, and is survived by her daughter, Freddie Ann Chilton of Pilot Mountain. Mrs. Chilton graduated from Beulah High School and King's Beauty School in Greensboro. She was the owner of Glamour Beauty Shop in Mount Airy and later opened Jessie's Beauty Shop in Pilot Mountain. After she married Mr. Chilton in 1962, they opened Chilton's Florist on Main Street in Pilot Mountain. After her husband's passing in 1982, she became the manager of his farming and real estate business. She loved cooking, sewing, making porcelain dolls, and freezing and canning fruits and vegetables from her garden. Mrs. Chilton was of the Quaker faith, and served as elder in Pilot Mountain Friends Meeting for many years. In addition to her daughter, she is survived by her brother, Franklin D. Snow and his wife, Rebecca, of Snellville, GA. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the STAFF OF ANGELS at Brookridge Baptist Homes and Blessed Assurance Companion Care, and Catherine Green for their wonderful care. The family requests privacy and the only visitation will be after the memorial service which is Sunday, June 2, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. Ministers Sara Beth Terrell and Dr. Ken Bradstock will be officiating. In lieu of food and flowers, donations may be made to the Fred E. and Jessie S. Chilton Memorial Scholarship Fund at Surry Community College, c/o Marion Venable, 630 South Main Street, Dobson, NC 27017.
