Jessie Carlis Edwards

Mr. Jessie Carlis Edwards, 76 of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on Thursday evening, November 7, 2019.  Carlis was born in Surry County on November 6, 1943 to the late Jessie Edgar and Arlene Hooker Edwards.  Mr. Edwards was retired from Pike Electric and was a faithful member of Woodville Baptist Church.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Juanita Draughn Edwards; his daughter Ginger Collins; two sons and daughters-in-law, Nick and Betsy Edwards, and Todd and Jaime Edwards; six grandchildren, Brandon Edwards, Shacana Mertson, Anna Mertson, Catherine Edwards, Abigail Hicks and Hannah Hicks; two sisters, Jo Ann Vaughn and Emma Lee; brother and a sister-in-law, Bobby and Donna Edwards; and by several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Williams; brother, Charles Edwards and also by an infant brother.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon November 10, 2019 at 2:00PM at Woodville Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Kilby and Brother Sammy Lawson officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday night at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 6:00 until 8:00PM.
