Mrs. Jewell Dean Wagoner Carter McHone, 75, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Golden Living-Surry Community in Mt. Airy. She was born in Forsyth County on April 24, 1938 to the late Marvin William and Jessie Key Wagoner. Mrs. McHone retired from The Mt. Airy News and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. She taught piano privately for 40 years. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Jon and Jeanette Carter of Mt. Airy, Marc Carter of Richmond, VA; a grandchild, Jonathan Jereme Carter of Daytona Beach, FL.; uncle and aunt, Ray and Lorene Key of Mt. Airy; closest cousins, Phyllis and Stanley Rose and Gary Pruett all of Mt. Airy and her very best friend and caregiver, Sandra Newman of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McHone was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin McHone. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Skyline Memory Gardens with the Rev. Joey Jessup officiating. Entombment will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
