Jo Ann (Shelton) Marshall

Ms. Jo Ann Shelton Marshall, age 70 of Mount Airy, passed away on Tuesday night, October 15, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Marshall was born on April 18, 1954, in Surry County to the late Hobert and Louella Bowman Shelton. Jo Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Misty Marshall Dean and Jeffery; son and daughter-in-law, Tony Ray Marshall and Tammy; grandchildren and spouse, Madison Penley and Alex, Sophie Dean, Ethan Marshall, Kelsey Williams, Kirstin Leonard; great-grandchild, Aspen Leonard; sisters, Marlyn Shelton Irvin, Irene Shelton Lewis; brother; Johnny Ray Shelton and Gail; along with several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Marshall was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Shelton Willard, Mary Ann Shelton Tate. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for all the loving care provided to Ms. Marshall during her illness.
