Mrs. Jocie Creola Hardy Watson, 97, of Toast, widow of Robert Allen Watson, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Twelve Oaks Rest Home in Mount Airy. Mrs. Watson was born October 1, 1916, in Surry County, to the late Tildie Hardy Hudson. Jocie retired from Renfro Corporation and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Watson Ward and her husband, Ken, of Williamsburg, VA; a son, Ted Watson and his wife, Hilda, of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Lindsay Ward and his wife, Patti, of Glen Allen, VA, Kendra Garrington and her husband, John, of Williamsburg, VA, Kevin Ward of Williamsburg, VA, Lori Watson and her fiancé, Chuck Robinson, of Mount Airy, and Mark Watson of Key West, FL; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and three special friends, Lois Brown, Dr. Eduardo Hernandez, and Cynthia Haynes. In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Phillips; and four brothers, Dee Hardy, Robe Hardy, Tobe Hardy, and Wes Hardy. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alex L. Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, and other times at the home of Ted and Hilda Watson, 149 Dearland Lane (near Dover Baptist Church), Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or Calvary Baptist Church, 314 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Twleve Oaks Rest Home and the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for all they have done for Jocie while in their care. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Watson family.
