Mr. Joe Bill Haymore, age 89, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by his sister Remona Goins, other family, and friends. Mr. Haymore was born in Surry County, June 29, 1934, the son of the late Virgil Lee and Geneva Samuels Haymore. Joe Bill was known for artistic skills, love of country music, and visiting with friends around town. He graduated from Mount Airy High School and then studied art at Surry Community College. He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant in the Military Police from 1956-1959. Surviving is his sister, Remona H. Goins, who faithfully attended and cared for him for the past decade as his health declined. He is also survived by his niece, Robin Peavy (Ken); nephews, Edward Lee Goins, and Dale Thompson (Tammy); great nieces and nephews, Danielle Goins Miller, Logan Lee Goins, Sydney Anne Peavy, Nicholas Peavy, and Mariella Thompson; great great nieces, and nephew, Maelynd Miller and Drayk Miller; brother-in-law, Daymond Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Leona H. Thompson, and brother, James Wesley Haymore. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Indian Grove Family Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. No formal visitation will be held at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to VFW Memorial Honor Guard of Mount Airy and Pilot Mountain, 285 Pineridge Trail, Pinnacle, NC 27043. Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy is serving the Haymore family.
