John Jefferson Draughn, Jr

Mr. John Jefferson Draughn, Jr., 89, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Sunday night, March 2, 2014, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Draughn was born November 22, 1924, in Surry County, the son of the late John Jefferson Draughn, Sr. and Daisy Mae Smith Draughn. Mr. Draughn was affectionately known as "Jay" to his family and friends. He was a self-employed drywall contractor for 40 years and a member of the Christian faith. He is survived by a brother, Albert Draughn of Holden Beach; a niece, Debora Draughn of Marion, SC; a nephew and his wife, Larry and Deborah Draughn of Asheboro; and his special friends and caregivers, Kelly and Jane Sisk of Pilot Mountain. In addition to his parents, Mr. Draughn was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Lee Cox Draughn; and two sisters, Ethel Jonas and Nellie Arseneauld. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Emmett Crotts officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
