Mr. John Henry “Butch” King, age 70 of Mount Airy passed away on Thursday morning April 18, 2024, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. He was born November 11, 1953, in Forsyth County to the late Henry Gilbert King and Virginia Brown King. He was a retired painter, enjoyed the mountains, fishing and hunting, and a huge fan of NASCAR. He enjoyed traveling and seeing America. The big redwoods and giant sequoia trees were a favorite visit. He loved the outdoors and nature. He enjoyed life and he loved God to know that he had a better place to go in the afterlife. He had a big heart to give and loved many in his lifetime. He will be missed by many who knew him. Left to cherish his memory are his companion for over 20 years, Marlene Tennyson; two daughters, Christie Dixon and Monica King; son, Butch King; step family, Mickey and Melynda Dudley; and five grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by a son, James “Jay” King. Graveside services will be held on Thursday April 25, 2024, at 3:00pm in the King Family Cemetery in Ararat, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations and condolences may be sent to Marlene Tennyson, PO Box 252, Toast, NC 27049. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
