John Kerr Martin, Jr

Mr. John Kerr Martin Age 56 of Mt. Airy passed away Monday May 12, 2014 after a long period of declining health. He is survived by his wife Lisa Galyean Martin, one daughter Meg A. Martin of Burlington NC and his precious pugs; Frank and Pugsly. He is also survived by two brothers Joe Martin and wife Dona of Mt. Gilead, NC and Ronnie Martin and wife Linda of Waynesboro, PA., two sisters June McCrary of Mt. Airy and Gwyn (Robert) Walker of Matthews, NC., sister-in-law Nina G. Davidson of Lively, VA., and brother-in-law Martin B. Galyean and wife Barbara along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John Kerr Martin, Sr. and Elma Chappell Martin. John was a well known water plant operator for both Mt. Airy and Pilot Mountain. He retired in 2013 after a lengthy career. Funeral services will be held Friday May 16, 2014 at 2;00 P.M. at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Doug Cockerham with a private burial at a later date. The family will receive friends Thursday night 6 to 8 P.M. at the Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC. Flowers will be accepted.
