John Franklin McCreary

Mr. John Franklin McCreary, 79, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation in Mt. Airy.  He was born in Surry County on May 3, 1943, to the late John Jacob and Veattrice Painter McCreary.  Mr. McCreary was a retired mechanic.  Mr. McCreary proudly served our country in the United States Army.  He is survived by two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Rachel Arnder; brother, Bill McCreary; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. McCreary was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy McCreary Wilson; brothers, James (Sonny) McCreary and Mitchell McCreary; three sisters, Vivie Boles, Delvia Elium and Anne Canaday. A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Moody Funeral Services in Mt. Airy is serving the McCreary family. Special thanks to Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation.
