John "Matt" Mitchell

John "Matt" Mitchell, age 28 of Mt. Airy, passed away peacefully at his home on January 13, 2015. Matt was born in Guilford County on September 24, 1986. Matt was such a special boy who brought so much joy to all who knew him. He will be truly missed by all his loving family and many, many friends. "He taught us the true meaning of unconditional love." Surviving are his parents, John and Joni Harvey Mitchell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sara and Jed Norman, Lee Ann and Jess Bolton; a niece, Emma Kate Norman and nephews, Gavin John Norman and Fisher Matt Bolton; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Doris Harvey and his paternal grandparents, Berkley, Sr. and Hilda Mitchell; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church by Rev. Alex Martin and Rev. Joe Ervin. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
