John Alfred Mount

Mr. John Alfred Mount, age 87 of Mount Airy, passed away during the morning hours of Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born June 20, 1936, in Sedgwick County, Kansas to the late Mary Dooley and John Elmer Mount.  Mr. Mount was a veteran of both the United States Navy and Airforce where he worked as a mechanic engineer.  He was also a certified pilot who built and flew his own plane.  Mr. Mount retired from IBM of Vermont after many years of service.  He was a man of God and a founding member of Hope Community Church.  Mr. Mount is survived by his special friend, Shirley Evans Martin.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Mount was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Mount.  A public memorial service to celebrate Mr. Mount’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 4:00 at Hope Community Church in Cana, Virginia with Pastor Anthony Thomas officiating.  Moody Funeral Service in Mount Airy has been entrusted with Mr. Mount’s arrangements.
