Johnny Rex Hiatt

Mr. Johnny Rex Hiatt, 74, of 423 Patton Way, Mount Airy, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Hiatt was born January 11, 1941, in Surry County, the son of the late Earl James and Dovie Elizabeth Hawks Hiatt. He was a self-employed painter. He is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Brandy and Timothy Dowdy, Deborah Bridges, and Donna Brown; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Tommy Sumner, Michael and Janice Sumner, Douglas Sumner, and George L. Sumner, Jr.; eleven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, Earl Junior Hiatt of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hiatt was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Dowdy; and two brothers, Bobby Lee Hiatt and Clarence Edward Hiatt. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is in charge of the cremation and serving the family. No formal visitation or service will be held.
