Mr. John Dale Hooley, age 79, of Cana, passed away on Tuesday morning, June 20, 2023, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation in Mount Airy. Mr. Hooley was born July 7, 1943, in Randall County, Texas to the late Vandie “Van” and Salley Ruth Nicholas Hooley. Johnny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Surviving is his wife, Bonnie Yopp Easter Hooley; a stepdaughter and step son-in-law, Vicky Porter and husband Thurman; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Ronnie Easter and Carolyn, Randall Easter and Brenda; several step grandchildren, several step great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, AJanice Hooley Fielding and Mike, Marie Hooley Watkins; one brother and sister-in-law, Vandie Hooley and Angie; a special nephew, Robert Nuhfer, Jr.; special friend, Debbie Jessup; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hooley was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Faye Barker Hooley; a stepdaughter, Bobbi Jo Easter Rutherford; a stepson, David Michael Easter; and a special niece Denise Nuhfer. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Cana, Virginia with Reverend Roy Quesenberry and Reverend Roger Frost officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military right conducted by VFW Honor Guard Post 2019 Mount Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Solid Rock Baptist Church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
