Johnny James Tate

Mr. Johnny James Tate, age 81, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Tate was born May 8, 1945, in Surry County, to the late William and Mary King Tate. Mr. Tate is survived by his brother; Donald Tate; nephews, Clarence Monday, Donald Ray Tate, John Tate, and Robert Butcher; nieces, Shirley Smith, Mildred Gonzolez, Tammy Casstevens, Debbie Riggins, Kimberly Bowman; close friend whom he loved as his own, William “Wormy” Roberts as well as many more great-nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents Mr. Tate was preceded in death by sisters, Hattie Monday, Emma Butcher, and Annie Norman; brothers, Bill and Harvey Tate; nephews, Dennis Monday, Charles Norman. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
