Johnny Banks Murphy

Mr. Johnny Banks Murphy, age 79, formerly of Durham, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023. He was born September 25, 1944, in Durham County NC, to the late Lester V. Murphy and the late Hilda Clayton Murphy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Murphy Wright.

            Left to cherish his memories are his son, Greg V. Murphy (Jennifer); his daughter, Dana Murphy Williams; grandchildren, Gregory Vann Murphy II, Krista Michelle Murphy, James Michael Murphy, Zachary Scott Murphy, and Rebecca Nicole Williams; five great grandchildren; sisters, Linda Murphy Cole, and Joann Gaines; and  Douglas Marie Poole. Mr. Murphy was loved and will be missed by his family and all that knew him. He was a gifted mechanic who loved all forms of racing, especially Karts. There will be a family conducted celebration of his life at a later date.  The family would also like to thank Medi Home Health and Hospice in Sparta for the care and compassion shown to Johnny and family during his illness. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Murphy family.
