Jonathan Neal Bowman

Mr. Jonathan Neal “John” Bowman, 56, of Mount Airy, passed away early Sunday morning, March 17, 2019, at his home.  Mr. Bowman was born February 8, 1963, in Surry County, one of seven children born to Lurene Willard Bowman and the late Paul E. Bowman.  John worked as a foreman for many years at G.L. Wilson Building Company in Statesville.  He is survived by his wife, Tammy Lynn Bennett Bowman of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Santana and John Gross of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Rusty Bowman and Kayla Burchette of Elkin; a grandson, Atticus Bowman of Elkin; his mother, Lurene Willard Bowman of Fancy Gap, VA; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Debra Alderman, Paulette and Jimmy Beasley, and Loretta and Mark Stout, all of Hillsville, VA, and Kim and Tony Stockner of Fancy Gap, VA; two brothers and a sister-in-law, the Rev. Ed and B.J. Bowman of Cana, VA, and Allen Bowman of Galax, VA; and several nieces and nephews.  The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Ed Bowman officiating.  Burial will follow in the Willard Cemetery in Fancy Gap, VA.  The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
