Jonathan Wayne "J.W." "Jay" Cassell

Mr. Jonathan Wayne (J.W./Jay) Cassell, age 38, of Bassett, Virginia left this earthly life on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Franklin County on April 15, 1985, to the late Melissa Page Cassell. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sadie Lou Paige Cassell; a grandmother, Joy Hale; and an uncle, Randy Cassell. Jay was a loving son, father, brother, nephew, and friend to many. J.W. was a hard worker and a former employee of J.C. Joyce Trucking and Paving Co. Inc. He was humble, kind, and full of life. Jay will be dearly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Left to cherish the fond memories of Jonathan Cassell are his five children, William Cassell, Logan Wyatt, Bryson Custin, Colton Custin, Jonathan Cassell, Jr.; two sisters, Amy Harris of Critz, Virginia, Stacey Biggs of Critz, Virginia; longtime special friend, Ashley Wyatt; aunt, Michelle McGrady; uncle, Mike Cassell (Crystal); special nieces, Annabel Harris, Emily Harris; friends, Adam Daniels, Landon Meeks; and several cousins, other special friends, and family members.

A Celebration of Life memorial service for Mr. Jonathan Cassell will be held at a later date. Relatives and friends may come to J.C. Joyce Trucking and Paving Co. Inc., 23767 Jeb Stuart Highway, Stuart, VA 24171, Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to sign the register book.
