Joseph "Joe" Stephens Taylor

Mr. Joseph “Joe” Stephens Taylor, 62 of Mount Airy, passed away at his home on Friday morning, April 3, 2026. He was born in Guilford County on March 14, 1964, to Carolina “Cad” Davis Taylor and the late Richard Linzey Taylor. A man of strong faith, Joe was devoted to his Bible ministry, where he shared his love of Jesus by giving out free Bibles and encouraging others. He retired from Beacon Builders after many dedicated years. Joe loved to spend time with his grandchildren. You would often find him hunting or fishing with his best friend, Steve. He also loved watching the Miami Dolphins play football. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 29 years, Carol Bailey Taylor of the home; daughters, Jessica Garner and Brian, and Mary Adkins and Jared; grandchildren, Brody Garner, Lyla Garner, Mazzy Draughon, and he has one on the way; his mother, Carolina “Cad” Davis Taylor; sisters, Marie Taylor Ramey and Tony, and Lin Taylor Johnson and Terry; mother-in-law, Sina Lowe; his brothers-in-law, Steve Bailey and Nellie, and Roger Bailey and Kathy; sister-in-law, Misty Young and Darrell; his special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom he loved so dear; and by several other family and friends. In addition to his father, Richard (Dick) Taylor, Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his two fathers-in-law, Hassell Bailey and Ray Lowe. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 8, 2026, at 11:00am at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Burial will follow in The People’s Church Cemetery. The Taylor family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00am – 11:00am.
