Joseph T. "Joe" Tolbert

Mr. Joseph T. “Joe” Tolbert, 84 of Cana, passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon September 20, 2025. He was born in Carroll Co, VA to the late James and Margaret Dean Tolbert. Mr. Tolbert was a manager in the construction industry for many years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Mary Frances McGaskey Tolbert of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Athena Tolbert Tilley and Richard; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard James Tolbert and Cheryl, and Joseph Trenton Tolbert; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Roy James Tolbert; and several other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tolbert was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Ann Tolbert; and his grandmother, Cena Lee Dean. Per Joe’s wishes, there will not be any formal services at this time. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
