Joshua Dwayne Sutphin

Mr. Joshua (Josh) Dwayne Sutphin, age 42 passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 2nd, 2026. He was born in Forsyth County on February 20th, 1984, to Brenda Holder Sutphin and Dwayne Sutphin.

Mr. Sutphin was a graduate of North Surry High School and was the Chief Engineer at Hampton Inn in Jonesville for the last 16 years and worked for Riverview Holding for a total of 21 years which included Days Inn and Comfort Inn. He was a hard worker (Fix it Felix) and could fix or make anything possible. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his life partner Katrina Winston, his loving daughter River and his extended family Maleyah Ceasar and Patrick Winston; paternal grandmother, Nellie Ruth Sutphin. Josh was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Annie Mae Holder and Billy Jack Holder; paternal grandfather, Lincoln Eldridge Sutphin. A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Whitaker's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Pilot Mountain with Reverand Tommy Vass officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy prior to the service. Moodys of Mount Airy is serving the Sutphin family.
