Judith "Judy" Mae Dickson Flippin

Mrs. Judith “Judy” Mae Dickson Flippin, 80 of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning September 21, 2025, at her home. She was born January 22, 1945, in Grayson County, VA to the late Bower Colvard Dickson and Iris Elizabeth Copeland Dickson. Judy was a very independent woman who was larger than life with a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to bake and cook for all she could feed. Judy was a very loving and kind person who loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren more than life itself. She was of the Baptist faith. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Don Hayes; son and daughter-in-law, Gray and Paige Flippin; grandchildren, Heather Underwood, Hilary and Mark Sears, Grayson and Gina Flippin, and Anna Beth Flippin and special friend Logan Staten; great-grandchildren, Micah Underwood, Simeon Underwood, Abigail Underwood, Khloe Sears, Brock Sears; Elliot Flippin, Torrin Flippin, and baby Flippin on the way; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Rev. Bill Spurlin; brother and sister-in-law, Bower Colvard “Jay” Dickson, Jr. and wife Patricia; sisters-in-law, Doris Scott and Rozena Huizinga; and by several other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flippin was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Jerome Riley “Romey” Flippin; sister and brother-in-law, Janis and Weldon Hodges; brother, Robert Gerald “Jerry” Dickson; and by three brothers-in-law, Ray Scott, George Huizinga, and Eugene Flippin. A celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Sunday September 28, 2025, at 3:00pm at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Arlis Thomas and Rev. Bill Spurlin officiating. The Flippin family will receive friends Sunday at the church from 1:00 – 3:00pm. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
