Judith "Judy" Ann Walker McBride

Mrs. Judith “Judy” Ann Walker McBride, age 84 of Mount Airy, passed away on Friday evening June 14, 2024, at Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. McBride was born in Beckley, WV on February 1, 1940, to the late Maymalene Morgan Walker. She retired from the textile industry and was a faithful member of Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church for 59 years. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons and spouses, Charles & Amy McBride and Bernie & Wanda Young, Jr.; three daughters and spouses, Becky and Steve Martin, Donna and David Gunnell, and Alison and David Jones; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Ted Dine; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Lois Walker; and by several other family and friends. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Glenn McBride; and her stepfather, John Mecum. The family would like to thank Surry Community Health & Rehabilitation and Mountain Valley Hospice for the care given to their mother. A special thank you to her caregiver Carolyn Hodges and her roommate Mary Chandler for their friendship. A special thank you to her longtime friend and caregiver Karen Lewis for her love and dedication to Judy. Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 18, 2024, at 2:00pm at Flat Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church with Dr. David Sparks officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening June 17, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Burial will follow the service in the McBride Family Cemetery. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
