Judith Lynn Starkey Truban

Judith Lynn Starkey Truban, a loving wife, mother, MumMum, and Great-MumMum, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 67 years old. Anyone that met her was impacted by her contagious, fun-loving personality, generosity, and encouraging words.

Judi was born June 8, 1957, in Fredrick, MD. She resided at 314 Cherry Street, Mount Airy. Judi was a devoted wife and is survived by Dr. David Hayes Truban. She was a loving mother of six children, Nathan (spouse Crystal Truban), Matthew (spouse Shannon Truban), Deveri (spouse Brendon Albiston), Mitchell (spouse Claire Truban), Britani (spouse Brandon Johnson), and David (spouse Stacy Truban).

She was a PROUD MumMum to many, many grandchildren. Nathan’s children are Brooklyn, Katelyn, and Ashlyn. Matthew’s children are Cameron, Madison, Mackenzie, Skylar, and Maximus. Deveri’s children are Elijah, Caleb, Benjamin, and Simeon. Mitchell’s children are Katherine and Olivia. Britani’s children are Brayden (deceased), Emerson, Hudson, Ariyason, and Benson (deceased). David’s children are Myla and Thea. She had the privilege of also getting to be a Great-MumMum to Coraline (Cameron’s firstborn).

Judi was a woman of great faith and walked closely with God. She encouraged her family to walk in that same great faith and to worship God with their whole hearts. Judi’s passions included being a gymnast, as well as coaching gymnastics, and a great love for animals. As an entrepreneur, she founded the gymnastics program at Reeves Community Center and co-owned Mount Airy Veterinary Hospital, alongside her husband, Dr. Truban. She held a particular love for monkeys and horses, having owned many of both throughout her life. Judi was courageous and strong and lived a full life. She has left behind a legacy of faith and family for generations to come.

There will be a public visitation held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 12:00 until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family will be holding a private memorial service to honor Judi’s life.

Judi will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a woman of strength, compassion, and extravagant generosity.
