Judy Hutchens, 65, passed away peacefully at her home in Lawsonville, North Carolina, on February 27, 2026.
Born on December 12, 1960, Judy lived a life marked by strength, sacrifice, and deep devotion to those she loved. She was the heart of her family — selfless, dependable, and always willing to put others before herself.
Judy faithfully loved her church and was a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church. Her faith was not only something she believed but something she lived out daily through acts of kindness, service, and quiet generosity. If you asked members of the community about Judy, they would tell you she was always there — showing up with support, encouragement, and a helping hand whenever someone was in need.
Her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by one daughter, Sheila Hostetter and husband, Zachary, of the home; one son, Dwayne Hutchens and wife, Christy, of Sandy Ridge, North Carolina; two sisters, Carol Light and Michelle Fain, both of Stuart, Virginia; one brother, Dale Light of Stuart, Virginia; and her 16 cherished grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Sarah Hutchens; her husband, Danny Hutchens; and her father, L.D. Light; her mother, Magdalene Allen; one sister, Margietta Holt; and the aunt and uncle who lovingly raised her, Carlene and Junior Inman.
Judy’s legacy is one of unwavering love, steadfast faith, and a lifetime of putting others first. She leaves behind a family forever shaped by her strength and a community better because she was part of it.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The funeral for Judy will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Tommy Nichols officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens with Dwayne Hutchens, Zachary Hostetter, Caleb Hostetter, Chloe Hostetter, Mason Scott, Maddox Scott, and Madison Scott serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home.
