Judy Wilmoth Melton

Judy Wilmoth Melton, 84, of Elkin, North Carolina passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Born July 8, 1942, in Surry County to the late John Henry and Tilda Callahan Wilmoth. Judy was a faithful Christian and member of Gum Orchard Baptist Church where she served as piano player for 49 years. She loved music, gardening, sewing, and cooking. A dedicated caregiver, Judy felt her true purpose was taking care of those who needed her. She was very involved with her church and loved her church family dearly. A caring and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Judy will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory, is her daughters and sons-in-law, Tanya Jones and Walter, and Dana Mason and Robert; grandchildren, Casey Wilmoth and Brandon, JC Mason, Mara Mashburn and Lewis, McKenzie Mosely and Chase, and Zachary Reaves; great grandchildren, Owen Wilmoth, Eliara Marshall, Brooke Wilmoth, Leo Mashburn, Rex Mosely, Dakota Mashburn, and Kimberley Jones; sister, Hazel Harper; brothers and sister-in-law, Byrd Wilmoth, and Junior Wilmoth and Linda; as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Rex” Melton; brother, Cleve Wilmoth; and nephews, David Wilmoth, Jason Wilmoth, and Gary Wilmoth. The family will receive friends Monday night, September 28, 2026, at Moody-Davis Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Gum Orchard Baptist Church with Rev. William Shew officiating. Burial will follow in the Zephyr Cemetery.
